About the Law Foundation of Ontario Grant (LFO)
The Law Foundation of Ontario was established in 1974 under the Law Society Act. It supports legal education, research, and access to justice initiatives across the province by distributing funds generated from lawyers’ and paralegals’ mixed trust accounts. These funds are used to support nonprofit organizations, legal aid services, and innovative legal initiatives that promote justice and equity.
Our Project
The " Color-nized" Project is the amplification and centering of sanctuary scholars' voices, narratives and experiences through a decolonized lens. We will question and deconstruct the colonial structures that maintain the numerous intersecting marginalizations affecting the migrant communities. The aim of this project is to encourage post-secondary institutions to not only expand their access, but also to expand their support and protection of Sanctuary Scholars.
Through workshops, art, outreach, reviews and knowledge sharing infographics, we will advocate for the expansion of the sanctuary program and the creation of a more inclusive and safer university spaces.

Our Project
With the support of OTF, and in collaboration with JFCY and BCYI, S4 Collective is launching a Systems Innovation Project to address the exclusion and barriers faced by racialized students with precarious immigration status in the Greater Toronto Area. This project focuses on shifting policies, practices, and attitudes to promote an inclusive mindset, creating pathways for more equitable access and participation in schools and post-secondary education
